We start with the log.

Nearly everything in our showroom began as a tree that came through our own sawmill. We cut it, dry it, and build it by hand.

The part nobody else has

Our own sawmill and kilns, out back

Most furniture stores order finished lumber, or finished furniture. We take delivery in log form. The logs go through the sawmill on the property, then into our kilns to dry, and then into the shop. Every step happens within sight of the showroom porch.

That control is the whole reason the furniture lasts. Quality gets decided at the starting material and at every joint after it — and we get to see all of it.

What we build with

Native Texas mesquite, red cedar, mountain cedar, pecan, and oak — though we can work in just about any hardwood you can get.

How we finish it

Mostly natural oils and clear coats. We avoid dark stains, because they hide the figure and colour that made us pick the board in the first place.

Custom work

Bring us your idea. Or your tree.

We will build just about anything out of wood. Sit down with our builders and they will sketch your piece on paper first, so you can see it before a board gets cut.

And if you have a tree — one that came down in a storm, or one that meant something to somebody — we can mill it and build your furniture out of it.

What we build

“No two products we make ever look completely identical.”

The wood has too much character for that to happen.

You did not drive out here for one store

Six family businesses share this stretch of Hwy 281 — a smokehouse, a bakery, a hat maker, a consignment shop, an event barn, and us. Plus a rocking chair that holds a world record.
